The process

Eight weeks. Six phases. One ethos.

From the first conversation to the final louvre, every Halcyon install runs to the same sequence. Here's what happens, when, and what you can expect at every step.

Halcyon Mascot workshop
In-home consultation
01
Week 1 · 90 minutes

In-home consultation

A no-obligation visit to your home — at a time that suits you. We bring real material samples (basswood blocks, PVC panels, every colour swatch), measure each window, listen to how each room is actually used, and talk through the architectural detail. No salesperson script.

What to expect
  • A walk-through of every room you want covered
  • Hands-on material samples and colour swatches
  • Detailed notes on each aperture
  • A frank conversation about budget and trade-offs
Precision measure & design

Week 2 · 3-5 business days

Precision measure & design

Laser measure of every aperture. Architectural CAD drawings of each shutter. A written, fixed-price quote with photos of the exact material, colour and hardware you've chosen. No surprises after this point — the number we give you is the number you pay.

What to expect
  • Individual measure of every window
  • Architectural CAD drawings issued for sign-off
  • Fixed written quote, valid 60 days
  • Manufacturing schedule provided
Handmade in workshop

Weeks 3-7 · 4-5 weeks

Handmade in workshop

Built by our own craftsmen in the Mascot workshop. Every panel cut, mitred, sanded, primed and finished by hand. Oven-cured for a finish that won't fade, yellow or chip. Quality-checked twice — once on the bench, once before crating — before they ever leave the workshop.

What to expect
  • Weekly progress photos texted to you
  • A visit to the workshop on request
  • Final QC sign-off photos before delivery
  • Any spec change-up to week 5 absorbed at our cost
Finishing
04
Week 7 · 5 business days

Finishing

Each panel hand-painted in your chosen colour. Multiple coats, oven-cured between layers, hand-sanded smooth. We use a finish that's rated UV-stable for 25 years — not the spray-and-go finish you get from off-the-shelf shutters.

What to expect
  • Three coats minimum on every panel
  • Oven-cured between coats for hardness
  • Hand-inspected for any flaw before install
  • Touch-up paint left with you in case of accidents
White-glove install
05
Week 8 · 1-3 days on site

White-glove install

Our own install crew — never subcontractors. Furniture protected, drop sheets down, walls re-touched where the old fitout came off. Every louvre tested, every screw torqued, every seal checked. We don't leave until you walk through every room and sign off.

What to expect
  • Two-person crew, fully insured
  • Drop sheets, furniture covers, polite shoes-off respect
  • Each room signed off before we move to the next
  • Same-day rectification if anything is off

Lifetime guarantee

Every install is signed off in writing with a lifetime workmanship guarantee. Any issue at any time, we come back. We're still maintaining homes we fitted in 2012 — and that's the proof of how seriously we take the guarantee.

What to expect
  • Lifetime workmanship guarantee in writing
  • Free annual hinge & tilt-rod check (request only)
  • Priority response if anything ever needs attention
  • Owner-handover doc and care guide
The Halcyon guarantee

If anything is wrong, we come back.

The workmanship of every shutter we install is guaranteed for as long as you own the home. If a louvre fails, a hinge wears, or a finish degrades from our build process — at any point — we restore or replace at our cost.

And it's not a clause buried in the fine print. It's the headline of every contract we sign.

Common questions

The honest answers we give on the first call.

What does it really cost?

Whole-home installs typically sit between $18,000 and $48,000 depending on aperture count, material and complexity. A single-room install starts around $2,400. The fixed quote is given in writing at the end of week 2 — no escalation after that.

How long from "yes" to "installed"?

8 weeks is the standard timeline. Consultation week 1, measure & quote week 2, build weeks 3-7, install week 8. Major-renovation integrations on a longer arc can be staged over 6-12 months.

Can you work alongside our builder or architect?

Yes — we routinely engage during the architectural drawing phase and integrate into the trade schedule. Earlier we're brought in, cleaner the integration.

What happens if we want to change something mid-build?

Spec change-ups absorbed at our cost up to week 5. Beyond that, additional materials and time are charged at cost. We never charge a "change fee" or markup on rework.

Do you remove old window coverings?

Yes, included. Curtains, rails, old shutters, dodgy roller blinds — all removed cleanly, holes filled, walls touched up. The room you walk into looks finished, not under-construction.
